Rocket Launch

Both Pack & Troop 13 have been sending Estes Rockets into the sky for the past several years.

Troop 13 has used the rocket day launch to promote the various space and model building merit badges.

Pack 13 gets all Dens, including Tiger Cubs, into the building and launching of the rockets.

The Tigers "Big" idea for the month of March is rocket building. They build the Alpha 3 in their first year of Scouting. It is a very easy rocket to build and has plastic fins which are VERY hard to break.

The Wolf to Webelos Scouts build rockets with balsa wood fins like the Nova. The Nova has a payload area in the top of the rocket that the boys can place special items into during the launch. Last year several boys put their JOTA (Jamboree on the Air- Ham Radio Day) pins into the payload area of the rocket and after the launch recovery, placed their pins proudly back on their hats.

The Pack & Troop give rocket kits to the Den Chiefs as a way of saying thanks for their year of service to the Cub Scouts.

If you are looking to use a rocket launch day as a Den, Patrol, Pack, or Troop event HOBBYTYME is a good place to search on the web for a hobby shop near you.

If you want more information about Pack & Troop 13s' rocket launch day contact BSA13 for more information.
